I can’t remember the last time I wanted to throw a computer at the wall. But today is definitely one of those days.

Perhaps someone can shed some light as to the reason of my misfortune?!
I KNOW I’m not comprehending some technique or understanding of how to line up these containers in the 12 column grid. I don’t want them to “float”. I just want the dang things to line up in a pretty little row. I think the lack of an UNDO button is what’s killing me right now. One wrong step and Ka-blam-oh!
Ugh…only 19 more to go…

You are out-smarting yourself.
Just make three columns. Don’t mess with the formatting of the pictures when you do… the first one will take full width, be huge, and not what you want (though, if the aspect is off, it will shrink and look like it’s floating in the middle).
Then, the second one (which will by default be 50/50) will split it. Then add a third.
Then, jimmy with the width dividers. Don’t muck with float or anything like that.
Thanks for the feedback Matt
but I’m just not “getting it”. I can easily make 3 columns using the full width, but I’m trying to make 3 columns within ~3/4 of the page as there is a “image/column” going down the side . The float thing happens on its own as I try to drag or resize the image. I’ve lucked out a couple of times where it just all of sudden snaps together. I realize now why fiverrrrr and odesk do so well. I’m just going to load em all up and pay someone to drag them for me! LOL
I should mention I’m on a 15″ MBP and not using a mouse (not sure if that matters or not). Again, I’m sure it’s just me.

After taking a break, rebooting my browser, things worked much better. There is definitely a finesse to getting the blocks to do what you want when creating asymmetrical layouts….and don’t do it when your tired. I also watched the instructional video on how to create a page ((shocking)) which shows someone dragging the block into the correct place straight from the “add block” chooser instead of just adding randomly and then creating the layout after all the images are on the canvas. This makes the process not only quicker but easier.
Hey Holly,
It sounds like you got it now, but Matt’s got the right idea. Don’t grab the handles on the sides of the images; those actually float the image, which can be a tricky behavior to figure out. Instead simply drag the images next to each other to create columns, and that should do it.
Let me know if you have any feedback or problems; I’d be happy to help (or try to fix it on our end).
Michael- that’s like telling a kid to keep his hand out of the cookie jar while mom’s busy in the next room! But yeah, I think I’m getting the hang of it. However, it’s rather easy to ‘accidentally’ float the image when my intention is to drag. The container can’t be highlighted/selected in any way. I have to click outside the container then hover and drag. Not sure if that really makes any sense to anyone but me. And as I mentioned previously, I find it works better to drag your choice of blocks directly from the “+ Block” flyout and into a column (as in the video that I should of watched before swearing at my computer). Anyways, thanks for taking the time to follow up
OT- I was shocked to be on the same list with Binary Bonsai. I’m 98.658% sure they made a mistake so I bought a T-shirt with a “Mann’s” head on it, hoping that will disuade them from changing the link when realizing the error of their ways
It should always be possible to grab non-text blocks (except on the sides) and drag them around. Hit me with an email if you’re having trouble with that
Also, the “spacer” block is super useful in these situations.
If you want a 3-column set of pictures that take up 3/4 of the width… you need a 1/4 spacer.
